"Great screen for a great price!" 2009-05-11
By L. Peyton (Vermont, USA)
After reading the reviews, we were very nervous about the sturdiness of the product, but have found it to be great! When it arrived, we handled with care, and had it mounted very quickly once we had visited the hardware store. (Note: if you are mounting into drywall or want to do a ceiling mount, you will need extra hardware!) We have now used the screen for over a week almost every day, and we do NOT leave it in the down position as that is not practical for us. As I said, because of the negative reviews, my husband took a little extra care when pulling the screen down and retracting it, but we have had no issues. The screen looks great up, it looks great with the projected picture, and we really love it and wish we'd bought one sooner. As to picture quality - I think I notice a difference, my husband feels like it's as good as when we projected on a white wall in the past. Overall: very satisfied here!

 "Good Screen" 2009-04-03
By Broken Thumb (Georgia, USA)
My screen arrived in 3 days with standard shipping! Screen was perfect out of the box, no probs. Needed a quick 2.40:1 setup. This screen worked out perfectly, I pulled it down and it locked in place at the height I needed. There are a couple waves where the screen attaches to the bottom, I don't notice them while watching films though. 100" hd image for under 100 bucks... not too shabby.

"Use the Warranty If You Get a Broken Screen" 2008-10-24
By D. Gibson (Columbia)
I purchased this screen in August (even after I read the horrible reviews) but did not get the chance to hang it until mid September. As soon as I removed from the box I knew immediately that the tension rod was worthless. The screen fell straight to the floor and would not retract. By this time Amazon's 30 day return period had just passed and they wouldn't even exchange it (I guess they knew it was a piece of junk too)so the Amazon rep told me to use the 1 yr warranty to replace it. THAT WAS THE BEST ADVICE EVER. Elite's customer service was great!!!! I received a replacement screen in about 10 days. Once hung, the screen retracts smoothly with no special tricks to get it up...so in a nut shell buy the screen at the next to nothing cost that Amazon sells it for and if you get a bad screen use the warranty. Evidently Amazon purchased a bad lot of screens at wholesale ....Elite Screen has the real deal and stands by their product so you will not receive a less than superior replacement.

 "Good screen / so-so mechanics" 2008-01-30
By Clay Cope (Seattle, WA)
I've had this screen for over 2 months now. I have to admit, at first, the mechanics are a little tricky. I rarely roll the screen up, so the so-so mechanics don't bother me. With that being said, the screen does get easier to raise the more you do it. After 2 months use and only about 6 times needing to put the screen up, my screen goes up no problem.

So here's my $0.02; if you need a screen to go up and down all the time, or at least regularly, spend the extra $300 and get an electric screen. If you absolutely can't fork out the 4 to $500 for an electric screen, this is a great value screen. Just be patient when you first get the screen. Mine is now very easy to operate.

The folks at Elite are great about answering the phone. I must have called 4 times before purchasing and someone answered the phone everytime I called. If you have a decent projector, all you need is the traditional matt white screen. This price will be hard to beat.

 "Waves" 2008-01-01
By Stan
I bought this screen about a week ago and right out of the box the bottom half of the screen had several big waves. It looks even worse now, with more ripples formed. In still scenes it seems ok but in slow moving scenes the effects of the waves are awful. The bottom of the screen is stapled to some thin pressed wood material.

The screen is very cheap but I think I got what I paid for it. I wouldn't recommend this product.
